Hyatt Opens Dreams Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Dominican Republic

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of Dreams Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa, a new all-inclusive beachfront property on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic.

The resort, part of Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, is designed for families and multigenerational travelers seeking a nature-rich escape. The debut expands the Dreams Resorts & Spas brand, reinforcing Hyatt’s focus on the Caribbean and Latin America.

Dreams Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa offers 500 rooms and suites, ranging from garden and pool view accommodations to oceanfront options, with select suites featuring direct swim-out access. Guests can also choose the Preferred Club for enhanced amenities such as butler service, exclusive pool and lounge access, and upgraded suite locations. The resort sits in Miches, a secluded region known for its beaches and ecological diversity.

Family-Focused Amenities and Activities

The property emphasizes family travel with supervised programs for children and teenagers. The Explorer’s Club welcomes kids ages 3-12 with arts, crafts, and beach activities, while the Core Zone Teens Club provides a social space for guests ages 13-17. Families can also enjoy three pools, including a family-friendly pool, and a waterpark with slides and splash zones.

For dining, the resort features 10 restaurants and seven bars under the direction of Executive Chef Carlos Quijano. Options range from South American dishes at Tierra to reimagined Dominican specialties at 1844 Dominican Cuisine. The El Patio restaurant serves Mexican classics, while international tastes are available across multiple venues on-site. A vibrant Public Square shared with the adjacent adults-only Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa offers additional dining, shopping, and entertainment options.

Guests seeking relaxation can visit the Secrets Spa, which includes massage cabins, a hydrotherapy circuit, bridal suite, and beauty salon. Fitness facilities are also available. The resort’s beachfront location provides access to Playa Esmeralda’s calm waters and nearby ecological excursions. Local activities include hiking to Salto La Jalda waterfall, kayaking in Laguna Limón, and exploring Los Haitises National Park.

The Preferred Club Presidential Suite offers the most exclusive experience, with a private kitchen, expansive living areas, a jet pool terrace, and panoramic ocean views. All suites include rain showers, double vanities, and natural bath amenities from Pharmacopia.

Dreams Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa participates in Hyatt’s World of Care platform and collaborates with Promiches, a local sustainability group. The property has installed a protected sea turtle nesting area on its beach to safeguard native species. The surrounding marine environment includes reefs with diverse fish populations, turtles, and occasional manatee sightings.

The resort provides over 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, suitable for weddings, milestone celebrations, and corporate functions. Couples can select from seaside ceremony spots or the Miches Ballroom. An on-site wedding team coordinates services including décor, catering, and entertainment. Access to Secrets Playa Esmeralda allows adults attending events to enjoy additional amenities while families remain at Dreams.
