IHG Celebrates 1,000+ Hotels Open in APAC

IHG Hotels & Resorts celebrates a significant achievement with the opening of over 1,000 hotels in the Asia Pacific (APAC), marking a pivotal moment as the company continues to expand its presence across the region. This milestone, now reaching 1,012 open hotels, underscores IHG’s commitment to growth and excellence in one of the world’s most dynamic hospitality markets.

In the past year alone, IHG has introduced guests to a variety of outstanding properties across APAC, featuring popular brands like Holiday Inn, InterContinental, and many others. With travel demand expected to surge and long-term growth looking promising, IHG is poised to become the top choice for both guests and owners in the region.

Rajit Sukumaran, SVP & Managing Director of IHG in East Asia & Pacific, expressed pride in reaching this milestone, especially noting the significant presence in Greater China. IHG is capitalizing on long-term opportunities by investing in brand development and ensuring high returns for property owners.

IHG aims to cater to the innate human desire to travel, whether for business or leisure, by offering a diverse selection of hotel brands and experiences. This goal is supported by a strong focus on the Mainstream segment through beloved brands like Holiday Inn, as well as significant investment in Luxury & Lifestyle brands, demonstrating IHG’s versatile portfolio.

The company is also focusing on conversions to expand its brand portfolio in APAC, including the introduction of the new midscale conversion brand, Garner, which will soon debut in Osaka, Japan. This strategy underscores IHG’s adaptability and forward-thinking approach to growth in the hospitality sector.

The APAC region is expected to witness the fastest growth in passenger traffic globally, bolstered by relaxed travel regulations and the expansion of flight routes. With an extensive pipeline of 705 hotels across 13 brands, IHG is well-positioned to seize these emerging opportunities, supported by its IHG One Rewards loyalty program.

IHG is tapping into the growing trend of travelers seeking unique experiences, offering leisure destinations like Halong Bay and Nagasaki. Additionally, the increase in business travel and the return of large conferences, such as the World Business Forum in Singapore, highlight the diverse demand within the APAC market.

Sukumaran anticipates an exciting future for IHG in APAC, driven by strong hotel performance and increased investment interest. With a robust construction pipeline in the region, IHG is set to significantly expand its footprint, offering memorable experiences for contemporary travelers.
