Kimpton Ashbel New York – Park Avenue has opened at 70 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, bringing a new boutique luxury hotel to one of New York City’s best-known addresses.
The 205-room property is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio and sits steps from Grand Central Terminal and Bryant Park.
The hotel occupies a reimagined Beaux-Arts landmark first built in 1928 as the Doral Park Avenue Hotel. It includes 14 family-friendly connecting rooms and introduces a residential-style concept designed to feel more like a Manhattan townhouse than a traditional hotel.
Guests enter through a series of interconnected spaces including a foyer, living room and family room. Original architectural details such as columns, windows and steps have been preserved, while new interiors feature warm woods, soft palettes and custom furnishings created by Busta Studio.
Each guestroom has tailored interiors and generous layouts intended to provide a calm retreat in the centre of the city. The hotel said the design combines historic character with modern comfort for business and leisure travellers.
Sofia L. Vandaele, Regional Director of Operations for Luxury & Lifestyle New York, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “Kimpton Ashbel is the kind of hotel that feels like a secret key, a personal enclave for those who know where to look. Our intention is for guests to feel as though they are stepping into the home of a stylish New Yorker. An elegant Manhattan socialite and a warm and inviting host.”
The food and drink offering is led by Park & Bel, a café concept designed as both a neighbourhood venue and guest social space. The menu moves from morning pastries, fruit and sandwiches to evening small plates.
- Expertly brewed coffee
- Artisanal baked goods
- Seasonal fruit
- Hearty sandwiches
- Evening small plates
- Premium cocktails, craft beer and fine wine
The hotel also offers Kimpton’s complimentary guest programmes, including the morning Kickstart coffee and tea service and the nightly Social Hour with beer and wine.
Sofia L. Vandaele, Regional Director of Operations for Luxury & Lifestyle New York, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “Kimpton Ashbel is a haven for travelers who view luxury not by extravagance, but by the comfort of belonging, the beauty of serenity and the rare feeling of knowing the city before smartphones.”
Kimpton Ashbel joins 85 Kimpton hotels now operating worldwide. The brand said it also has 67 hotels in its development pipeline.
