Las Vegas-based Allegiant adds its fourth Florida destination from Pittsburgh with nonstop service to Orlando with fares as low as $49* one way. Allegiant is also announcing the establishment of a new base of operations at the Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) and future flights.
Beginning December 24, 2015, Allegiant will base a single 156-seat Airbus A319 aircraft at the airport, creating jobs for pilots, flight attendants and airport service personnel. Allegiant will also further grow its Pittsburgh operation this fall when it begins operating charter flights to Punta Cana and Cancun on behalf of Apple Vacations.
Allegiant began service from Pittsburgh in February 2015 with ten weekly flights to three Florida destinations. Since that time, the community’s enthusiastic response to Allegiant’s ultra-low-fares has led the carrier to add summer seasonal flights to Myrtle Beach, and now nonstop flights to Orlando. With this announcement, Allegiant will now offer 12 weekly flights from Pittsburgh to five destinations.
Nonstop flights to Orlando will begin Nov. 5, 2015 and operate twice weekly between Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB). Flight days, times and the lowest fares can be found only at Allegiant.com.
When it opens in December, Pittsburgh will become Allegiant’s 13th aircraft base and is estimated to employ up to 40 flight crew and airport personnel locally. Interested candidates may view local job postings through the company career website, Allegiant.com/careers, as they become available.
“Allegiant’s decision to add jobs to the region in addition to a growing list of nonstop destinations from Pittsburgh International Airport is more evidence of our strong regional economy,” Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said. “I’m excited for the future collaboration between our airport and this growing airline.”
Allegiant’s innovative business model has allowed it to grow from one plane and one route just over a decade ago to offering access to low-cost flights in over 100 cities nationwide, more than any other domestic low-cost carrier. Allegiant passengers can enjoy unique savings by bundling their air, hotel, car and even activity and attraction reservations together for less.
