American Airlines Marks 100 Years With Anthem Video and New Brand Logo

American Airlines has launched its centennial celebrations with the release of an anthem video showcasing historic and modern images of its fleet, network and staff.

The company will commemorate its 100th anniversary on April 15, 2026, marking a century since its first mail flight from St. Louis to Chicago in 1926.

With 100 days to go until 2026, the airline is introducing a new centennial brand identity that integrates an infinity symbol with its existing logo. The symbol is designed to represent strength, timelessness and continuity as American looks ahead to its second century of operations.

Celebrating a Century of Aviation

American Airlines Chief Executive Officer Robert Isom said the milestone reflects both the company’s legacy and its future. “American is proud to be an airline known for its legacy of firsts,” he said. “As we get ready for our centennial, we celebrate the strong history of our iconic airline and brand while knowing we’ve built an airline that will continue to move our customers and company forward for the next 100 years.”

The centennial logo will appear across merchandise, digital channels, in-flight products, sports sponsorships and other brand touchpoints. The anthem video, highlighting iconic aircraft and moments from the airline’s past, serves as the first major element of the year-long campaign leading up to the official anniversary date.

The commemoration will emphasize American’s role in shaping commercial aviation. From pioneering passenger services to introducing innovations such as airport lounges and loyalty programs, the airline has played a central role in defining modern air travel. The company said the centennial will celebrate both these achievements and its ongoing commitment to customer service and innovation.

American traces its beginnings to 1926, when a single aircraft flew mail between St. Louis and Chicago. That modest start evolved into one of the world’s largest airline networks. Over the decades, American Airlines has introduced multiple industry firsts, including the use of the DC-3 for passenger and mail service, the creation of the first airport lounge, and the launch of the first frequent flyer loyalty program.
