Police in Argentina arrested a man and a woman after crew reported they had sex in business class during a nearly 7-hour flight from Panama. The pair, aged 55 and 60, were detained after the aircraft landed in Rosario, according to local media reports.
The incident was reported by a grandmother travelling with her minor granddaughter, who noticed suspicious movements in seats 1E and 1F, the newspaper La Nacion said. Flight attendants were alerted and later found the couple with their clothing lowered, according to the reports.
Police took the pair into custody on the pilot’s request after landing. They were later released after routine procedures, while prosecutors in Rosario continue to investigate, local outlets said.
The case has drawn attention because similar incidents in Argentina are often resolved with a fine or a donation to a charity, according to the television channel TN. Local reports said the married man’s family was waiting for him at Rosario airport.
The flight was understood to have been one of a number of long-haul journeys connecting Panama and Argentina, with passengers seated in business class during the incident. The reports did not say whether the pair had travelled together before boarding.
Argentina’s aviation and criminal authorities have not publicly detailed any charges beyond the allegation of obscene exhibitionism. The investigation remains open in Rosario, where officials are reviewing what happened on board the flight.
