Emirates Airline signs an agreement with Dubai Investments Park (DIP) to acquire land for a new purpose-built Cabin Crew Village designed to house up to 12,000 cabin crew members.
The multi-billion-dirham development will rise within Dubai Investments Park under a long-term lease arrangement, with groundbreaking planned for the second quarter of 2026 and the first phase expected to be completed in 2029.
The project includes 20 contemporary residential buildings, each 19 floors high, offering one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, alongside retail, leisure and wellness facilities. The agreement was signed by Ali Mubarak Al Soori of Emirates and Khalid Bin Kalban of Dubai Investments, in the presence of senior executives from both organisations.
Life inside the planned crew village
Designed as a complete lifestyle destination, the Cabin Crew Village aims to bring daily essentials, leisure spaces and community facilities together in one integrated neighbourhood. A central multi-purpose hub will host retail outlets, restaurants and food concepts, as well as modern fitness facilities, clinics and dedicated public spaces and parks.
Outdoor living is a major focus of the masterplan. Residents will have access to walking trails, landscaped grounds, resort-style pools and green spaces woven throughout the development, encouraging an active lifestyle and opportunities to socialise beyond work schedules. Each residential building will also include its own dedicated facilities to ensure convenience and accessibility for crew members.
Emirates positions the village as part of a wider strategy to support employee wellbeing and long-term operational growth. “Our cabin crew are central to the experience Emirates delivers to customers. This investment is part of our broader commitment to supporting their wellbeing by offering living spaces designed around their needs and lifestyles,” said Ali Mubarak Al Soori, Chief Procurement & Facilities Officer. “The Cabin Crew Village will provide everything our crew need within a single, thoughtfully planned development, with convenient access to everyday essentials, leisure facilities and communal spaces that foster a strong sense of community. The Cabin Crew Village also represents a strategic investment in Emirates’ future, supporting our transition plans to Al Maktoum International and continued growth in the years ahead.”
Dubai Investments Park views the project as a signal of confidence in the area’s infrastructure and long-term vision. “Dubai Investments Park has evolved into a destination where global enterprises can bring ambitious projects to life within a fully integrated and future-ready environment,” said Omar Al Mesmar, General Manager, Dubai Investments Park. “DIP’s collaboration with Emirates reflects the confidence that leading organisations place in its infrastructure and regulatory ecosystem and further reinforces its position as a hub for visionary investment. This development will enrich DIP’s dynamic community, supporting Dubai’s continued rise as a global centre for business and opportunity. DIP remains committed to enabling partnerships that create meaningful, long-term value for the emirate.”
Why the location matters for Emirates’ growth
The site sits equidistant between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC), placing crew within efficient reach of current and future operational hubs. The positioning supports Emirates’ long-term transition plans to Al Maktoum International Airport while reducing commute pressures for thousands of staff.
For travellers, the investment signals continued expansion of Dubai’s aviation ecosystem and the infrastructure that underpins it. A stable, well-supported crew base can translate into operational resilience, service consistency and sustained route growth as passenger demand continues to evolve across the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Africa.
As construction moves toward its 2026 groundbreaking, the project highlights how airlines are increasingly investing beyond aircraft and terminals, shaping liveable communities that support the people who keep global travel moving.
