The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announces the One Stop Security pilot program, starting in July with flights from London’s Heathrow to U.S. airports, to allow eligible international passengers to bypass TSA rescreening upon arrival.
Two flights—one by American Airlines to Dallas–Fort Worth International Airport and one by Delta Air Lines to Atlanta’s Hartsfield–Jackson International Airport—are part of the initial rollout.
The pilot, authorized by Congress and led by TSA in collaboration with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the United Kingdom, aims to simplify international travel and enhance security by raising foreign airports to TSA-equivalent standards. It reflects a coordinated effort to streamline processing while maintaining safety and supporting U.S. travel policy priorities.
Program mechanics and participating airlines
One Stop Security exempts passengers from rescreening after CBP inspection and allows them to proceed directly to the sterile area for connecting flights. It also ensures that checked baggage is transferred to connecting flights without being rescreened. TSA expects this to improve passenger flow, reduce costs, and elevate security levels at participating foreign airports.
Implementation and oversight
The operational assessment began in July at Heathrow Airport with one American Airlines flight and one Delta Air Lines flight. TSA Acting Deputy Administrator Adam Stahl calls the initiative a “common-sense approach to streamlining the passenger journey while also bolstering aviation security.”
He says, “It’s our goal to simplify this experience while maintaining the highest levels of security.” The pilot reflects coordination among TSA, CBP, and the UK under Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s top priorities.
Context within broader TSA efforts
One Stop Security builds on other TSA initiatives aimed at improving the travel experience. These include the “Serve with Honor, Travel with Ease” campaign for military personnel and “Families on the Fly,” offering benefits such as dedicated family lanes and discounted TSA PreCheck® fees at select airports.
TSA positions One Stop Security as a critical step toward its goal of a safer, more efficient travel environment and advancing a new “Golden Age of American travel,” while reinforcing international security collaboration and operational effectiveness.
