New Whisky Tastings Arrive at Heathrow

Whisky tastings are now taking center stage at Heathrow as the airport unveils its reimagined Whisky Social Club, a month-long celebration filled with curated pairings, interactive pop-ups, and exclusive releases. From now through the end of May, travelers flying through all four terminals can immerse themselves in the craftsmanship, culture, and flavors of world-class whiskies—all without leaving the airport.

An Immersive Whisky Celebration Across Terminals

Heathrow’s new Whisky Social Club is more than a standard tasting event. In partnership with global travel retail leader Avolta, the airport has transformed its terminals into whisky playgrounds, featuring free tastings, masterclasses, personalized gifting stations, and innovative tasting technology.

Highlights of the Whisky Social Club Experience:

  • Free whisky tastings and masterclasses hosted by ambassadors from iconic labels such as Glen Moray, Glen Scotia, Tomintoul, Fable, Bowmore, Glenfiddich, and Pernod Ricard
  • Miss Whisky’s Signature Food Pairings on select dates—featuring chocolates and cheeses expertly matched with premium drams by whisky expert Alwynne Gwilt, also known as Miss Whisky
  • Live bottle engraving stations where passengers can customize whisky bottles as personal gifts or keepsakes
  • “Lift & Learn” tasting stations with smart screens that reveal tasting notes and brand stories when featured bottles are lifted

The interactive installations invite passengers to slow down and savor—transforming a typical airport layover into a flavorful journey of discovery.

Exclusive Travel Retail Bottles and Limited Releases

During the event, Heathrow will offer a range of travel-retail exclusives available only within its terminals. Featured whiskies include:

  • Fable’s The Lighthouse
  • McArthur
  • Gulls
  • London Edition

Each of these limited-edition labels has been crafted with the traveler in mind and reflects the diversity and innovation within the global whisky landscape. Whether shopping for a connoisseur or exploring new flavors for personal enjoyment, these bottles offer a memorable souvenir of any journey.

Whisky Meets Culinary Creativity

Heathrow’s restaurants have joined in on the celebration, offering bespoke whisky-themed food and cocktails throughout May. Travelers can enjoy gourmet experiences that blend classic dishes with whisky-forward twists at restaurants across the airport’s terminals.

From Airport to Home: Whisky Social Club Online

Even travelers without immediate plans to fly through Heathrow can participate in Whisky Social Club from home. Heathrow has launched an online hub at heathrow.com/whisky, where users can explore exclusive content, tasting guides, and virtual competitions curated by Miss Whisky.

In addition, shoppers can use the airport’s Reserve & Collect service at boutique.heathrow.com to pre-order their favorite whisky products for easy pick-up before departure.

Rewards, Competitions, and Responsible Enjoyment

Heathrow Rewards members are in for a treat during the festival. From May 1, participating restaurant purchases earn double points, and travelers can enter a Glen Moray prize draw for a chance to win two tickets to the 2025 Senior Open Championship at Sunningdale.

Fraser Brown, Heathrow’s Retail Director, called the event a celebration of whisky’s character and timeless appeal, designed to delight travelers with both new discoveries and personalized experiences.

Alwynne Gwilt (Miss Whisky) added that whisky, like travel, offers a passport to global tradition, and through the event’s curated pairings and sensory moments, passengers are invited to explore its stories and flavors more deeply.

As always, Heathrow encourages passengers to enjoy whisky responsibly and reminds them that alcohol purchased in World Duty Free must not be consumed within the airport premises.

Whether you’re shopping for rare bottles, sipping a dram between flights, or indulging in whisky-infused cuisine, the new Whisky Social Club at Heathrow delivers a flavorful and unforgettable pre-flight experience.
