ASEAN Tourism Forum 2022 Takes Place in Sihanoukville, Cambodia

Sihanoukville, Cambodia is hosting the 40th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) from 16th – 22nd January 2022, at Sokha Beach Resort.

ATF 2022 will be held under the theme “ASEAN – A Community of Peace and Shared Future”. The Sokha Beach Resort, in Sihanoukville, houses the largest meeting space in the city. A seaside port city in the south, Sihanoukville has been designated by the Kingdom as a special multi-purpose economic zone as part of its large economic expansion and diversifying growth.

Expected to welcome 350 delegates from 27 countries and regions, ATF 2022 will be organized in a safe physical format. All attendees will be reminded to wear their masks, and be observed for safe distancing. All frequent touch points at the venue will also undergo a regular sanitisation and disinfection and 3 DOs and 3 DON’Ts protocol.

Attendees include tourism leaders and officials, international buyers, exhibitors, media as well as trade visitors and passionate travellers from the tourism industry.

The official ASEAN NTO Meetings for the development of work programmes that aim to foster ASEAN Tourism Recovery and a more resilient future, Tourism Ministerial Meetings and Associations Meetings will take place from 16th – 20th January 2022 while TRAVEX will be held from 19th – 20th January 2022, followed by Post-ATF tours on 21st and 22nd January 2022.

On 15th November 2021, Cambodia re-opened to fully vaccinated international travellers under a Safe and Clean tourism campaign, which is a welcome step towards tourism recovery and sustainability in the ASEAN region and beyond.

According to statistics from The Ministry of Health of Cambodia, more than 90 per cent of Cambodia’s 16 million population have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of 10th January 2022.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia, it is my honour to officially announce that Cambodia is ready to host the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2022 (ATF 2022) in Sihanoukville. This coastal city has grown to become a leading international and national centre of trade, commerce, and tourism. It is also one of the most culturally varied and dynamic population centres in Cambodia.

Since the health of travellers is our utmost concern, we have put together a plan to rebuild the tourism sector safely through stringent hygiene safeguards to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and instil reassurance among our community,” said H.E. Dr. THONG Khon, Minister of Tourism, Royal Government of Cambodia.

The ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) is a cooperative regional effort to promote the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as one tourist destination. This annual event involves all the tourism industry sectors of the 10 member states of ASEAN: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam. 

ATF was established in 1981. Each year, the hosting of ATF is rotated among the member countries, and 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the event.
