AJet strengthens presence in Germany with BARIG membership

AJet is strengthening its presence in Germany after joining the international airline association BARIG (Board of Airline Representatives in Germany), expanding its visibility in one of its key European markets.

The Turkish low-cost carrier becomes the latest member of the Frankfurt-based association, which represents airlines operating in and out of Germany. The announcement was made today, as BARIG confirmed its growing membership and international reach.

AJet is Türkiye’s youngest low-cost airline and a rapidly expanding subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, operating in 34 countries and serving 59 international destinations alongside more than 40 domestic routes. In Germany, the airline currently serves 8 airports, linking travellers to major cities and holiday regions across Türkiye, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia. The move signals deeper cooperation with industry partners as the carrier accelerates fleet growth and network expansion.

“AJet is a dynamically developing company that focuses on modern, low-emission, fuel-efficient aircraft in addition to targeted route planning,” says Michael Hoppe, BARIG Chairman and Executive Director. “We are delighted to welcome this new airline to our BARIG network.“

AJet currently operates a fleet of approximately 90 aircraft, including Airbus A320neo and A321neo, and Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX 8. Within the next ten years, the fleet is expected to more than double to 200 aircraft; according to current plans, AJet will then serve over 50 countries.

“Germany is one of AJet’s key markets,” emphasizes Kerem Sarp, AJet CEO.

“At a time of significant change in the aviation industry, constructive dialogue and effective representation are essential. BARIG provides an important platform for engagement with industry stakeholders and partners. Our membership supports AJet’s strategic growth objectives as we continue to expand our modern, efficient fleet and international network.”

BARIG (Board of Airline Representatives in Germany e.V.) represents the interests of more than 100 national and international airlines in scheduled, charter, low cost, and air cargo business. Since the foundation in 1951, the airline association works for the improvement of frame conditions in the aviation industry in Germany and is the key industry contact for politics, authorities, industry, and media.
