Aelia and RELAY Brands Arrive at Bucharest’s Henri Coanda Airport

Lagardère Travel Retail has announced the launch of its inaugural Duty Paid stores in Romania, marking a significant expansion within the Bucharest National Airport Company (CNAB)’s Henri Coanda International Airport.

This move introduces the globally successful Aelia brand to Romanian travelers, enhancing the shopping experience with personalized services and digital innovations.

The Aelia stores promise an immersive shopping environment tailored to the specific profiles, needs, and preferences of travelers, spanning an international network of approximately 150 locations. These stores integrate digital and omnichannel services, including “Click & Collect” and “Shop & Collect,” across a 2000 sqm retail space.

In addition to Aelia, the new retail area will feature the well-known RELAY brand, offering travel essentials, and “Discover,” a souvenir store showcasing local Romanian authenticity. A unique concept specifically designed for Henri Coanda International Airport is also set to debut, aiming to surprise the Romanian market at the inauguration.

Marius Văcălău, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail Romania, expressed gratitude for the partnership with CNAB and the opportunity to promote Romanian culture alongside top international brands. He highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting Romania’s Schengen region ambitions through enhanced airport services.

Since 1996, Lagardère Travel Retail has been a staple in Romania’s urban transit areas, boasting a network of 300 stores across various segments and operating under six major brands. This expansion strengthens its position in the Romanian market, promising an enriched airport shopping experience.
