The Ritz-Carlton has unveiled luxury SailGP race weekend experiences in New York, including hotel packages, Central Park activations and on-the-water viewing for the New York Sail Grand Prix on 30-31 May.
The experiences are tied to the hotel brand’s global partnership with the U.S. SailGP Team and will be offered through The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park and The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad.
SailGP features 13 national teams racing identical F50 catamarans in high-speed competition. The boats can reach speeds of more than 60 miles per hour, powered only by wind.
The New York race brings the championship to the waters of the Hudson River and New York Harbor, adding another major sporting event to the city’s spring calendar.
The Ritz-Carlton said the partnership links the precision of high-performance sailing with luxury hospitality, while extending the brand beyond traditional hotel stays through curated sporting and cultural experiences.
On 30 May, the brand will host a public activation at Central Park’s Conservatory Water from 2pm to 7pm. The pond, known for its miniature sailboats, will host bespoke radio-controlled sailboat races and family-friendly activities.
Kerbs Boathouse will be transformed for the day into The Ritz-Carlton Sailing Club, with summer food, live music and Ritz Kids-inspired activities designed to introduce younger visitors to sailing.
A live stream of the SailGP race will run from 3:30pm to 5pm, allowing guests in Central Park to follow the competition beyond the waterfront.
“New York is one of the most iconic cities in the world, and for us this is an opportunity to expand our race weekend throughout the city,” said Mike Buckley, Team Principal, CEO and Co-Owner of the U.S. SailGP Team.
“Partnering with The Ritz-Carlton allows us to build a true home base for our team, our partners and our fans in a market that means a great deal to us. We’re building the U.S. SailGP Team to sit at the intersection of sport, culture, and hospitality, and this collaboration is a natural extension of that vision,” he added.
For race day on 31 May, guests can book The Ultimate SailGP Experience at both Ritz-Carlton hotels in New York. The package includes two Premium On-the-Water tickets on an official spectator vessel positioned along the racecourse.
The package also includes overnight accommodation, daily breakfast, transport to the boarding location, an embroidered boat tote and official branded hats. Stays are available from 29 May through 2 June, although inclusions vary by hotel.
“Through our partnership with the U.S. SailGP Team, The Ritz-Carlton is creating new ways for guests to engage with global cultural and sporting moments through the lens of luxury hospitality,” said George Hammer, Global Head of Luxury Marketing at Marriott International.
“The New York Sail Grand Prix is an exciting opportunity to bring that vision to life, connecting our guests to the energy of the sport through thoughtfully curated experiences both on land and on the water,” he added.
The partnership reflects a wider push by luxury hotel brands to connect with global sporting events as demand grows for high-end travel experiences built around live entertainment, culture and sport.
For The Ritz-Carlton, the New York SailGP weekend gives the brand a way to combine hotel stays, city programming and premium race access in one of its most important U.S. markets.
