Google Maps Enhances User Privacy with Location History Update

Earlier we published that Google Maps introduced new, easily accessible lists to offer top-tier recommendations for travelers, now Google is taking a significant step to protect user privacy.

With this update, users’ location history data will be stored only on their devices, not in the cloud.

Until December 1, users can download all their travel history to their mobile devices. After this date, historical data will no longer be stored in the cloud and will be kept solely on devices. Users will no longer access Location History through the web.

For users who do not activate the new Location History settings, Google will transfer the last 90 days of travel history to the first logged-in device and delete older data. Those wishing to continue using Google Maps can access Location History settings by clicking on their profile picture in the app.

Google is making this change as part of its efforts to enhance user privacy. The company aims to protect users better by securing their location data.

Google Maps is a widely used application by millions of people today. This app plays a crucial role in users’ daily lives. People use Google Maps to find destinations, get directions, check traffic conditions, and more.

However, due to Google Maps storing users’ location and other personal data, user security and privacy are paramount. Google acknowledges its responsibility in this area and is taking various measures to safeguard user security.
