Uber Hotel Booking Launches in US but Is It Really Cheaper?

Uber has launched a new hotel booking feature for users in the United States, allowing travellers to reserve rooms directly through its app as the company pushes further into the travel market.

The service is rolling out over the next few weeks through a partnership with Expedia Group, giving users access to more than 700,000 hotels worldwide. Vacation rentals through Vrbo are also expected to be added later in 2026.

Uber said the new tool is designed to help users save time and money while keeping travel plans inside one app. Uber One members, who pay $9.99 a month, can receive at least a 20% discount at a rotating list of 10,000 hotels and 10% back in Uber Credits on bookings.

According to a test by The Washington Post, Uber’s hotel rates were lower than comparable prices on Hilton, Booking.com and Hotels.com for one Florida stay, although savings may vary by property and date.

The Washington Post reported that a room at the Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore cost $140.19 through Uber with an extended refund option. Comparable rates were listed at $144 on Hilton’s website, $165 on Booking.com and $159 on Hotels.com.

Users can find the feature in the Hotels tab of the Uber app, where they can search by destination, dates, and traveller numbers. Filters include price, guest rating, hotel class, accessibility features and amenities.

Uber said the feature can also simplify travel days by helping users arrange rides to and from their hotel, while allowing Uber Eats and other deliveries to be sent to the property.

“People are spending their time in multiple apps, and we want to be able to make their lives easier,” said Sachin Kansal, Chief Product Officer at Uber.

“We want to be able to help them save their time. And in the case of hotels, we also want to be able to help them save money,” added Sachin Kansal.

The move forms part of Uber’s broader strategy to become a wider lifestyle and travel platform, expanding beyond ride-hailing into food delivery, grocery orders and reservations.
