Moxy Hotels, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of more than 30 brands, has opened Moxy Tulum, the company’s first Moxy property in the Caribbean and Latin America.
The launch marks a key milestone in Marriott International’s regional growth strategy, introducing a new lifestyle concept aimed at younger, design-conscious travelers seeking social and immersive experiences in high-demand leisure destinations.
The 122-room hotel is located across from the National Jaguar Park and near the Mayan Ruins of Tulum, offering easy access to downtown shops, spas, galleries, and beaches. The opening underscores Marriott’s continued investment in expanding its lifestyle portfolio in Mexico and throughout the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), positioning Moxy as a driver of experiential travel in the region.
Moxy Tulum’s architecture is designed to integrate with the surrounding jungle landscape, maintaining natural views and vegetation. The property’s Welcome Area features locally inspired décor, including a carved wooden jaguar bench and a neon sign that introduces the interactive “Find the Jaguar” game, where guests can discover hidden jaguar motifs across the hotel. Other design elements draw on regional aesthetics, including latticework inspired by traditional toys and clay finishes reflecting Tulum’s bohemian atmosphere.
Guestrooms emphasize both functionality and creativity, with modular furniture, motion-activated LED lighting, keyless entry, flat-screen TVs, and complimentary Wi-Fi. The layout includes 55 Double–Double Rooms with two Queen Beds, as well as bunk rooms designed for groups or families. A retro blue telephone adds a playful detail consistent with Moxy’s bold, youthful branding.
The property also features a 24-hour gym and offers reservations for Temazcal ceremonies — traditional indigenous steam baths associated with purification and spiritual renewal. These cultural integrations reinforce Moxy Tulum’s goal of offering experiences that connect guests with local heritage while maintaining the global brand’s energetic identity.
At the center of the hotel is the Moxy Bar & Restaurant, located in an open-concept lobby that merges indoor and outdoor spaces. The bar serves craft cocktails, local beers, and regional dishes in a setting that blends industrial and rustic design. The interior is characterized by pop-culture murals, woven totems, and clay lamp installations that create a visually dynamic atmosphere designed for social interaction.
According to Brian King, President, Caribbean and Latin America, Marriott International, “Expanding our global footprint with the vibrant Moxy brand in Tulum marks an exciting milestone. Tulum’s captivating mix of natural beauty, rich culture, and bohemian spirit aligns perfectly with Moxy’s bold, playful vibe—making it an ideal destination for our next chapter.”
The launch reflects Marriott’s strategy to attract a new generation of travelers who prioritize design, connectivity, and social engagement. By locating the hotel near Tulum’s cultural landmarks and natural attractions, Moxy Hotels aims to blend community interaction with contemporary hospitality standards.
Moxy Tulum joins Marriott Bonvoy’s global network, allowing members to earn and redeem points for stays, experiences, and purchases. The brand’s entry into Mexico signals broader ambitions for growth in culturally rich, leisure-driven markets across Latin America and the Caribbean.
