The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is partnering with Content With Purpose (CWP) to produce a new digital series, Pacific Asia: Tourism with Purpose, highlighting how tourism across the Asia-Pacific region can advance more responsible, inclusive, and sustainable development.
The initiative launches as travel demand continues to rise and as regional industry leaders call for tourism growth that benefits communities, ecosystems, and wider economies.
The series forms part of PATA’s 75th anniversary activities and will feature short films, expert interviews, and stories from across the region. It will debut with a preview screening at the PATA Annual Summit 2026 in Gyeongju and Pohang, Korea, before a full launch at the PATA Travel Mart 2026 in Sarawak, Malaysia.
Series explores tourism’s wider impact
PATA said the series aims to showcase how tourism can strengthen livelihoods, support community development, and foster environmental stewardship across Asia-Pacific. The organisation noted that the sector’s influence extends beyond traditional visitor economy metrics, reaching areas such as well-being, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration.
Aligned with PATA’s broader mission, Tourism with Purpose will spotlight initiatives in sustainable tourism, climate action, regional connectivity, and community empowerment. Through a mix of character-led storytelling and expert insight, the series intends to highlight projects that demonstrate how purposeful travel can generate long-term benefits.
Noor Ahmad Hamid, CEO of PATA, said, “Tourism acts as a bridge between cultures, communities, and economies. Through Tourism with Purpose, we want to highlight how our region is leading the way toward a more responsible and resilient tourism future.” He added that the series will “showcase the people and partnerships driving that change, demonstrating how purposeful travel can create lasting benefits for our environment, our societies, and generations to come.”
Partnership focuses on storytelling and regional leadership
The partnership with CWP is designed to amplify diverse voices across the region, ensuring that transformational stories reach both industry stakeholders and global audiences. The series will draw on CWP’s experience in producing purpose-driven digital content.
Max Smith, Founder and Managing Director of CWP, said, “We’re delighted to be partnering with PATA to create a series that celebrates the transformative potential of tourism. The series is an opportunity to celebrate the vision and leadership across the Asia-Pacific, and to show how tourism, when guided by purpose and collaboration, can strengthen communities, protect the planet, and inspire a more connected world.”
PATA said the digital campaign accompanying the series will extend across its network, reaching policymakers, businesses, NGOs, academia, and travellers. The organisation intends to use the broad distribution strategy to encourage collective action toward a more inclusive and resilient tourism future.
Launching in a year marking a major milestone for PATA, the series underscores the association’s ongoing commitment to advancing destination stewardship and sustainable growth. The initiative supports industry discussions around how tourism can mitigate climate impacts, distribute benefits more evenly, and strengthen resilience in a region shaped by environmental and socioeconomic diversity.
The association encouraged public- and private-sector organisations interested in contributing to the series to contact Sophie Newboult, Series Development Manager at CWP. PATA said expanding participation will help ensure that Tourism with Purpose reflects the range of solutions and innovations emerging from across Pacific Asia.
With production underway, PATA and CWP expect the series to highlight how Asia-Pacific destinations are redesigning their visitor economies to prioritise long-term well-being and shared prosperity. The organisations said Tourism with Purpose will invite the global travel sector to consider how meaningful impact can become central to regional and international tourism development.
