PATA adds Chinese theme park giant Chimelong as preferred partner

The Pacific Asia Travel Association has named Guangzhou Chimelong Group Co., Ltd. as its newest Preferred Partner. Chimelong Group is a Chinese cultural tourism conglomerate offering both leisure and MICE services.

The announcement was made on July 7, 2026, in Bangkok. The partnership aims to support the sustainable growth and competitiveness of the Asia Pacific visitor economy.

“As one of Asia’s most innovative tourism enterprises, Chimelong Group has demonstrated how world-class attractions and experiences can inspire travel, create economic opportunities, and contribute to destination development,” said Noor Ahmad Hamid, PATA CEO.

“We are delighted to welcome them as a Preferred Partner and look forward to working closely together to strengthen responsible tourism practices within the hospitality sector,” Hamid said.

A representative from Chimelong Group welcomed the partnership. “Chimelong has always remained dedicated to tourism, committed to building a world-class brand and pursuing international development,” the representative said.

“Driven by culture, technology, innovation and talent, we are confident that Chinese creativity will continue to bring new inspiration and valuable experiences to the global tourism industry,” the representative added.

Under the agreement, PATA and Chimelong Group will engage in mutual advocacy, industry engagement, tourism research, and the exchange of data and intelligence. The two organisations plan to jointly drive initiatives that advance responsible tourism practices across the region.

The partnership reflects shared objectives between the two organisations. These include enhancing the value and perceived value of the Asia Pacific visitor economy, strengthening engagement between governments and national tourism organisations, and promoting the benefits of reliable, unique, and comprehensive tourism intelligence.

PATA said the collaboration brings together its industry expertise and global network with Chimelong Group’s approach to cultural tourism and hospitality. The organisation said this combination creates opportunities for future cooperation to support the long term growth and success of the visitor economy across Asia Pacific.

Chimelong Group operates a range of large scale leisure attractions in China, including theme parks, resorts, and safari parks, and has grown into one of the country’s most prominent cultural tourism brands. Its addition to PATA’s Preferred Partner roster reflects the association’s continued efforts to expand engagement with major private sector operators across the region.

PATA is a membership based organisation that works with governments, businesses, and educational institutions to advocate for the responsible development of travel and tourism throughout the Asia Pacific region. Preferred Partners contribute resources and expertise to PATA’s programmes and research initiatives.
