Hilton Surpasses 200 Hotels in Canada

Hilton has announced it now operates more than 200 hotels across Canada, marking a major milestone in the company’s regional expansion strategy.

The achievement comes as the global hospitality group continues to grow its focused service, extended stay, and lifestyle brand portfolios. Recent openings include Hôtel Vallea Bromont (Tapestry Collection by Hilton), Home2 Suites by Hilton Woodstock ON, and Spark by Hilton Toronto Mississauga.

This development highlights Hilton’s multi-brand growth approach in Canada, where the company has nearly doubled its portfolio over the past decade. With over 100 hotels currently in the pipeline, Hilton is expanding across both major urban centers and emerging leisure markets, catering to a wide range of traveler preferences and business needs.

Decade of Strategic Growth Across Brand Segments

Hilton’s growth in Canada has been led primarily by the expansion of focused service brands such as Hampton by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Tru by Hilton, and Spark by Hilton. These brands account for approximately half of Hilton’s growth in the country over the past 10 years, including nearly 50 new properties.

Extended stay offerings have also seen significant growth, with Homewood Suites by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton doubling their footprint in Canada during the same period. Lifestyle brands are gaining traction as well, with new openings under the Tapestry Collection by Hilton and the Curio Collection by Hilton in markets such as Montreal, Niagara Falls, and Toronto.

“Surpassing 200 open hotels in Canada is a powerful testament to our momentum in the market,” said Matt Wehling, Senior Vice President, Development, U.S. and Canada, Hilton. “This success is fueled by the strong relationships we’ve built with our owners, supported by our regional, in-market expertise that reinforces our long-term development strategy and drives operational excellence at every stage.”

Pipeline Projects Signal Continued Expansion

Hilton’s Canadian development pipeline includes more than 100 hotels across various brands and categories. Upcoming projects include the first Motto by Hilton in Canada, scheduled to open in Montreal in 2028, and the debut of Tempo by Hilton in Toronto in 2029.

Over the next 12 months, more than 20 new properties are expected to join the Hilton portfolio, including DoubleTree by Hilton North Vancouver, Hampton Inn by Hilton Calgary Downtown, Homewood Suites by Hilton Surrey, Home2 Suites by Hilton Vaughan Toronto, and Tru by Hilton Milton. Several new Spark by Hilton hotels are also in development in Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal.

Expanding Nationwide Presence

Hilton’s milestone reflects a long-term commitment to delivering its hospitality brands across Canada’s diverse travel landscape—from city centers to leisure and event destinations. With growth accelerating across both new and existing markets, the company aims to offer travelers more choice while delivering consistent service and value.

“We’re excited to continue expanding across Canada’s most sought-after and emerging destinations—delivering exceptional value for our partners and meeting the evolving needs of our guests from coast to coast,” said Wehling.
