Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur Opens in Malaysia’s Tallest Skyscraper

Park Hyatt Hotels Corporation has marked a milestone with the opening of Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, the brand’s first property in Malaysia and its 50th worldwide. Occupying levels 75 to 114 of the iconic Merdeka 118 — the tallest skyscraper in Asia Pacific — the hotel offers a “home in the sky” with panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline and a blend of Malaysian cultural heritage with contemporary luxury.

The debut is part of a larger wave of Hyatt’s growth in the Malaysian capital, with three new properties opening within a year. According to David Udell, Group President, Asia Pacific, Hyatt, the launch signals a breakthrough for the brand in Southeast Asia, expanding diverse offerings for global travelers seeking distinctive, high-end experiences.

Guestrooms and Suites: Elevated Living

The 252 guestrooms and suites are designed as private sanctuaries, each framed by floor-to-ceiling windows. Natural light floods interiors, while shutters offer privacy when desired. Suites include expansive living areas, personal study spaces, walk-in dressing rooms, and in select rooms, private dining areas with skyline views. Bathrooms feature double vanities, rain showers, aromatherapy steamers, and deep soaking tubs, blending comfort with indulgence.

The interiors, crafted by G.A Group, draw inspiration from traditional Malay Kampung houses, with perforated brass screens etched in batik patterns, timber accents, and woven textures. Artworks curated by Artlink showcase Malaysia’s colors and natural forms, creating a sophisticated yet warm atmosphere.

Cultural Connections in Merdeka 118 Precinct

Guests can take a guided journey through the Merdeka 118 Precinct, with exclusive access to historic Stadium Merdeka — the site of Malaysia’s independence declaration — as well as the Al-Sultan Abdullah Mosque and the Merdeka Textile Museum. The tour weaves together architecture, history, and heritage tourism, aligning with the Warisan KL initiative to celebrate and revitalise Kuala Lumpur’s cultural core.

YM Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad Raja Tun Uda, Group Chairman of PNB, said Merdeka 118 will uplift communities and enhance the city’s vibrancy. He highlighted Park Hyatt’s arrival as a catalyst for unlocking the area’s tourism potential and instilling pride among Malaysians.

Dining with a Malaysian Soul

The hotel’s dining venues pay homage to Malaysia’s multicultural gastronomy. Merdeka Grill offers premium cuts, sustainable seafood, and tableside signature dishes like cedar-wood roasted salmon and Chateaubriand. Park Lounge revives lost Malaysian recipes such as Botok Ikan and Gulai Taucu Minang, alongside an elegant afternoon tea curated by Executive Pastry Chef Holger Deh.

Cacao Mixology & Chocolate, Kuala Lumpur’s first chocolate-themed bar, serves chocolate-based cocktails, artisanal spirits, and handcrafted confections with sweeping views of the PETRONAS Twin Towers. Guests can also book behind-the-scenes pâtisserie tours and private chocolate workshops led by Park Hyatt’s pastry team.

Wellness at New Heights

On the 99th floor, the wellness sanctuary offers circadian therapies, a yoga studio, a Himalayan Salt Alcove, a vitality pool, and a 30-meter infinity pool overlooking the city. Guests can craft custom bath salts from locally inspired ingredients, enhancing the relaxation experience. The spa’s holistic approach aims to balance energy cycles for both invigorating mornings and restorative nights.

Meetings and Events in the Sky

The hotel’s executive salons cater to private meetings, corporate gatherings, and celebrations. Flooded with natural light and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, these spaces offer a refined residential feel, all with sweeping views of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline.

Blending Heritage and Modern Luxury

Herman Kemp, General Manager of Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, emphasised the hotel’s connection to its surroundings, from locally inspired design to culturally rooted culinary concepts. Positioned near Petaling Street Chinatown and part of the landmark Merdeka 118 precinct, the property blends heritage narratives with modern hospitality, creating an enriching experience for guests.

With its commanding location, thoughtful design, and curated experiences, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is set to become a premier destination for luxury travellers in Southeast Asia, offering both a celebration of Malaysia’s cultural identity and a gateway to the city’s evolving skyline.
