Raffles Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to open its first alpine resort in Courchevel 1850, the flagship address of the French Alps, ahead of the 2028 winter season. The property will be developed in partnership with Art de Vivre and will occupy a prime position within the exclusive Jardin Alpin precinct, one of the most coveted enclaves in European skiing.
The 50-room resort will be designed by JMV with interiors by Humbert & Poyet, offering suites and guestrooms with private balconies overlooking the Tarentaise Valley. It will be the brand’s sixth European property and its second address in France, joining Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris.
A landmark address in the world’s premier ski destination
Courchevel 1850 sits within Les Trois Vallées, the world’s largest interconnected ski area, and is internationally recognised for its concentration of Michelin-starred restaurants, luxury retail, and high-end hospitality. The resort has long attracted discerning travellers seeking a rare combination of world-class skiing, refined living, and a vibrant social and cultural scene.
The Jardin Alpin enclave represents the most elevated and sought-after location within Courchevel 1850, offering sweeping panoramic views across the Tarentaise Valley and close proximity to the resort’s most prestigious dining and leisure venues. Raffles Courchevel will be positioned at the heart of this precinct, placing guests within easy reach of the slopes and the wider resort.
Dining, wellness and mountain living
The resort will feature multiple dining venues designed to reflect the alpine setting. Two destination restaurants with winter gardens and expansive terraces will anchor the food and beverage offering, alongside a signature bar and an elegant tea lounge. The spaces will be conceived to allow guests to experience exceptional cuisine against the backdrop of the surrounding peaks across all hours of the day.
A dedicated spa and recovery facility will offer a comprehensive wellness programme combining traditional alpine therapies with treatments rooted in longevity science. The facility will include treatment rooms, thermal experiences, a dedicated fitness centre, and a panoramic swimming pool. After a day on the slopes, the spa is intended to serve as a destination for restoration in its own right.
The resort will also offer a carefully considered programme for younger guests, built around nature, sport, and wellbeing, designed to give younger travellers their own way of experiencing mountain life.
Brand expansion into alpine luxury
“The introduction of Raffles Courchevel marks an extraordinary milestone for our brand, representing our first venture into the stylish world of alpine luxury and our second distinguished address in France,” said Omer Acar, CEO, Raffles Hotels & Resorts. “The selection of Courchevel underscores our commitment to thoughtfully expanding the Raffles brand in the most coveted resort destinations worldwide. Courchevel, with its natural allure and vibrant sophistication, provides the perfect match.”
Jonathan Lau, Co-Founder and CEO of Art de Vivre, described the project as an opportunity to contribute to the next chapter of Courchevel’s place at the pinnacle of alpine hospitality. “Our singular vision has been to create a resort that will be worthy of this extraordinary setting, one that becomes an enduring icon of Courchevel,” he said. “In Raffles, we have found a partner whose storied heritage, cultural depth, and values are equal to this ambition.”
Growing European footprint
Raffles currently operates five hotels across Europe, including Raffles London at The OWO, Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris, Raffles Europejski Warsaw, and Raffles Istanbul. Raffles Lake Como is scheduled to open in 2027, with the Courchevel property set to follow for the 2028 winter season, bringing the brand’s European portfolio to six addresses.
The announcement positions Raffles among a growing number of global luxury hotel brands expanding into alpine markets, as demand for high-end ski resort accommodation continues to strengthen across Europe’s premier mountain destinations.
