Vietjet takes delivery of first Boeing 737 jet, one week after welcoming a new A330

VietjetĀ isĀ celebrating its firstĀ Boeing 737-8 aircraft from the airline’s landmark order of 200 jets valued at $32 billion with Boeing,

Vietnamese President Luong Cuong attended a delivery ceremony in Seattle held on 21 September, during his visit to the United States to attend the UN General Assembly.

Taking place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the normalisation of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the US, the event not only marked an important milestone in cooperation between Vietjet and Boeing but also served as a demonstration of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, contributing to the promotion of trade and investment and generating hundreds of thousands of jobs in the US.

The new aircraft, along with hundreds more to be delivered in the coming years, will be deployed onĀ Vietjet’sĀ high-demand regional routes and underscoresĀ Vietjet’sĀ commitment to expanding its international network,Ā while contributing to the sustainable development of the aviation industry regionally and globally.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman ofĀ Vietjet, said: ā€œThe first Boeing aircraft received under this historic order is the result of nearly a decade of partnership between Boeing and Vietjet. It marks the start of hundreds more deliveries in the years ahead. This milestone strengthens bilateral trade. It also delivers real benefits to both economies and creates more jobs for the American people.ā€

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said that Boeing was honoured to join Vietjet in celebrating the airline’s first Boeing airplane and that the 737-8 will support the airline’s network growth, open new routes to serve Southeast Asia and reinforce the strength of one of the region’s most dynamic new-generation airlines.

Delivery of new A330 aircraft

On 14 September, Vietjet officially welcomed a new wide-body A330 aircraft with registration, bringing the airline’s fleet to 121 aircraft, including those operated by Vietjet Thailand and Vietjet Kazakhstan.

This marks a significant milestone, affirming Vietjet’s sustainable growth capacity in its global network expansion strategy, ready to meet the travel demands of passengers and tourists ahead of the year-end peak season.

Equipped with the state-of-the-art Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engine, the A330 aircraft will immediately be put into operation on routes to Australia, Kazakhstan, India, Japan and Europe, offering passengers a modern and comfortable travel experiences.

Vietjet has a fleet of more than 400 new aircraft ordered from Airbus and Boeing through 2030.
