The total number of seats available on international flights to Spain for May 2024 has reached 11.3 million, according to data released by Turespaña.
This represents a 13% increase compared to May 2023, when 10.4 million seats were offered.
Jordi Hereu, the Minister of Industry and Tourism, stated, “The statistics on seats available for May provide a significant indication of how the international tourism market will behave at the start of the official high season, with a substantial increase in air traffic, which for this particular month shows even better figures than in 2023.”
The data is already proves that Spain will be a leading destination for summer 2024, as predicted at the Summer Trends Report.
Comparing the seat projections for May 2024 with the data recorded at the same date in 2023, the main source markets to Spain continue to perform well: the United Kingdom (+8%), Germany (+13.3%), and Italy (+13.5%).
Notable are the significant increases from Poland, which saw a 53.4% rise, the Czech Republic, with a 42.7% increase, and the USA, which grew by more than 20.9%.
Additionally, markets such as Sweden, Colombia, and Switzerland also showed significant increases of over 10% for this May.
