Valencia Airport recorded a new monthly passenger record in September with 1,071,198 travelers, representing a 1.2% increase compared with the same month in 2024.
The milestone highlights the airport’s continued growth, driven mainly by international traffic, which remains the dominant segment at the Manises terminal.
According to data released by airport authorities, international passengers totaled 810,609 in September, up 4.1% year-on-year. Domestic traffic, however, declined by 7.5%, with 257,517 passengers recorded during the month. The figures reflect commercial flight operations and are compared against the same period last year.
Italy was the leading international market for Valencia Airport in September, accounting for 168,585 passengers. It was followed by Germany with 95,441 travelers, the Netherlands with 86,432, the United Kingdom with 82,691, and France with 79,586. These five markets collectively represent a substantial share of the airport’s total international passenger flow.
The airport managed 8,188 flight operations in September, including landings and takeoffs, marking a slight 0.2% decrease compared with the same month in the previous year. Despite the minor dip in operations, the steady rise in passenger numbers underscores growing demand for Valencia as a regional air hub.
Year-to-Date Growth Continues
Between January and September, Valencia Airport handled 8,989,690 passengers, an 8.2% increase compared with the same period in 2024. The airport also recorded 70,374 flight movements over the nine-month period, up 6.9% from the previous year. The strong year-to-date growth reflects both expanding international connectivity and resilient leisure and business travel demand across Europe.
International routes continue to play a vital role in Valencia’s recovery and expansion, supported by rising traffic from major European destinations. The increase in connectivity with markets such as Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands highlights the city’s growing appeal as a tourism and business destination.
While domestic travel experienced a decline in September, consistent gains in international passenger numbers suggest that foreign markets are driving overall growth at the airport. The combination of steady international demand and improved route offerings positions Valencia Airport for a strong close to 2025.
Valencia Airport, located in Manises, remains one of Spain’s key regional gateways and a vital contributor to the country’s air transport network. Its record-breaking performance in September reinforces its role in Spain’s broader aviation recovery and growing European travel landscape.
