Holland America Line Launches Cruising’s First Lipstick Blending Bar at Sea

Holland America Line has launched Blend Bar, the first lipstick blending bar at sea, allowing guests to create personalized lipsticks and glosses while on board. The hands-on experience debuted across seven ships and will expand to the remaining vessels in the fleet by mid-November 2025.

The Blend Bar experience combines personalization, luxury, and creativity for guests seeking more than traditional onboard entertainment. Located within the shipboard retail area, the bar provides a guided session with a beauty consultant to help participants craft a customized lipstick or gloss using a selection of premium pigments, finishes, and flavors.

New Beauty Experience Expands Across the Fleet

Blend Bar is currently available on Nieuw Statendam, Eurodam, Westerdam, Oosterdam, Zuiderdam, Volendam, and Zaandam. Guests can choose from more than 30 pigments, four finishes—crème, butter, matte, or gloss—and over 20 signature flavors to develop their own product. Each finished item can be named and labeled, with participants receiving a personalized lipstick or gloss and a formula card for future recreations. The custom lipstick or matte formula costs $65, while a gloss is priced at $60.

Personalized Creation and Premium Ingredients

At the Blend Bar, guests can design a one-of-a-kind hue, replicate a discontinued favorite, or create a shade that matches a specific outfit. They can also add shimmer, frost, or iridescent effects for additional dimension. Once the custom formula is finalized, it is melted and poured into a lipstick mold or gloss tube, completing the process. Each product is cruelty-free, vegan, and formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, or GMOs.

Holland America Line emphasizes the quality and safety of its beauty products, which contain antioxidants and SPF for daily sun protection. The brand’s focus on ingredient integrity reflects its broader commitment to wellness and guest satisfaction. The Blend Bar aligns with Holland America’s ongoing strategy to elevate onboard retail and experiential offerings for travelers seeking tailored, memorable activities at sea.

Blend Bar sessions are open to all guests and can be booked individually or for group experiences.
