American Airlines has expanded its digital wallet integrations to include Samsung Wallet, allowing customers to store boarding passes directly on Samsung devices.
American says the move makes it the first U.S. airline to offer direct integration of boarding passes with Samsung Wallet, giving travelers easier access to key flight details throughout their journey.
The integration allows passengers to receive real time updates about their trip through their mobile wallet. Information available in the digital boarding pass includes flight day and departure time, terminal and gate changes, seat information, flight number and boarding time updates, with optional push notifications for passengers who enable alerts.
The new feature builds on American Airlines’ existing digital wallet capabilities, which already allow customers to store boarding passes on other mobile wallet platforms. By placing boarding passes directly in digital wallets, the airline aims to ensure passengers have quick access to updated travel information without needing to reopen the airline app.
Travelers using Samsung devices can add their boarding pass directly from the American Airlines mobile app. Customers simply tap “Add to Wallet” while viewing their boarding pass, allowing the pass to appear instantly in their preferred digital wallet for use at the airport.
The launch forms part of American Airlines’ broader effort to enhance its mobile-first travel experience. Through the airline’s mobile app, passengers can manage key parts of their journey, including booking details, day-of-travel updates and account information.
Recent updates to the American Airlines app include improved travel day visibility with real time flight updates, enhanced self service tools that allow passengers to rebook flights during disruptions and more intuitive trip management features.
The app also provides expanded access to AAdvantage loyalty program information, allowing members to view account status and track rewards directly from their mobile devices.
American Airlines says these upgrades are designed to give customers greater control and transparency throughout the travel process, from booking to boarding.
The airline encourages customers to download or update the American Airlines mobile app to access the latest features, including the new Samsung Wallet boarding pass integration.
