A new research from industry analysts East & Partners Asia (E&P Asia) finds out that Chinese and Indian corporates continue to increase their travel budgets. While travel and entertainment expenditure of the Top 1000 corporates from 10 Asian markets has gone from US$1.52 billion to US$1.62 billion over 2015, China’s Top 100 have increased spending by 20 percent over the year, from US$139.6 to US$165.56 million per corporate on average.

Lufthansa’s cabin crew union UFO has canceled strike which is scheduled for Thursday and Friday. The announcement came from UFO on Wednesday in Frankfurt at a top-level meeting with the board of the airline. The union announced that Lufthansa had made concessions on important points in ongoing negotiations, which have been stuck on early retirement clauses in air crews’ contracts.
Ukraine has banned all Russian planes from using its airspace and decided to stop buying Russian natural gas. Tensions between Russia and Ukraine will escalate following these events. Meanwhile, Russia’s state-controlled gas company, Gazprom, said Wednesday that it stopped sending gas to Ukraine on Wednesday morning and will supply no more because Ukraine has not paid in advance for more deliveries.
Following the recent attacks in Paris and the lockdown in Brussels, flight bookings to Brussels have collapsed. According to the latest figures, both daily bookings and cancellations, show a drop of 159% since the beginning of the weekend, when the lockdown came in to force. In the previous week, which directly followed the Paris attacks, bookings were 23% down.
The global Travel & Tourism sector is forecast to grow by 3.5% during 2015, representing strong growth despite numerous challenges that have already taken place this year. According to the World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC) annual autumn update to its Economic Impact research, GDP growth of 3.5% is forecast for the sector in 2015. Turkish warplanes have shot down a Russian military aircraft on the border with Syria. Turkish military officials said the plane was engaged after being warned that it was violating Turkish airspace. The crew ejected before the jet crashed, but Syrian rebels said at least one was dead. Following the incident, Russian Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism) issued a travel warning.

Flight bookings to Paris collapsed in the week following the terrorist attacks, according to the latest figures from travel data analyst, ForwardKeys. Net bookings, which take into account both daily bookings and cancellations, were 101% down on the same period last year. Travel to Paris was hit immediately after the 13 November assaults and while the number of cancellations has now fallen considerably, new reservations are proving slow to return.

International visits to Britain for the first nine months of 2015 have broken previous records according to new figures out today from the Office for National Statistics. The data shows there were 27.1 million visits to Britain from January to September this year, a 3% increase compared to the same period in 2014.
Emirates adds four flights per week to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia starting from 14th December 2015.
