Between January and May, 2015 an additional 1.1 million overnights were generated by international visitors to Germany, compared with the same period last year. This is according to the latest numbers from the Federal Statistical Office based on statistics from accommodation facilities with ten or more beds as well as camping grounds. Overall, 27.1 million international overnights were registered, an increase of 4.1 percent.

A fire on the pool deck of Cosmopolitan, a luxury hotel and casino in Las Vegas, in the US state of Nevada, injured two people on Saturday, the local fire department deputy chief said. Russia is expected to earn more revenue from big-spending Chinese tourists who spent $1 billion there in 2014, a figure helped by a devalued ruble amid Western sanctions and tourism promotions between the two countries. Chinese tourists accounted for 16% of all foreign tourists in Russia since the beginning of 2015. Meanwhile, the average amount spent by a Chinese tourist on one trip anywhere is nearly $2,400, according to data from research firm GfK.
Alitalia pilots and flight attendants announced 24 hours strike on Friday, July 24 starting from midnight on Thursday. The Italian Civil Aviation Association (ANPAC) announced the reason behind the strike is that Alitalia has refused to provide guarantees on staffing levels, meaning thousand pilots' and stewards' jobs are potentially at risk.

Hotel search website trivago.co.uk has analyzed the average cost of a hotel room in both euros and pounds. Based on the 12 most popular countries in the Eurozone, prices in July 2015 compared to July 2014 have increased in euros and decreased in pounds. The country with the largest price increase in euros is Turkey, where travellers within the Eurozone can expect to pay an average of €16 more per night for their hotel room (€121 compared to €105 last year). During a 7-night stay, this translates to an extra €112. Prices in Turkey have also increased in pounds, but only by 2 per cent, translating to an extra £14 during a one week holiday.
Vienna registered a new all-time record with around 6.3 million visitor overnights between January and June 2015 – about 5.4% more than for the same period the previous year. Statistics New Zealand released international visitor arrival figures for the month of June. The surge in visitors from Tourism New Zealand’s key international markets continues with holiday arrivals the highest ever for the month.
