IHG Signs Six voco Hotels Across Mexico

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed six new voco hotels in Mexico through a partnership with Alliance Hotels, the company announced on 9 September 2025.

The conversions, scheduled to open in 2027, will add 848 rooms across six key commercial cities: Cancun, Guadalajara, Ciudad Juarez, San Luis Potosi, Torreon, and Nuevo Laredo. The agreement supports IHG’s strategy to expand its premium voco hotels brand in high-demand markets through conversions and renovations.

Each property will undergo significant upgrades to incorporate the brand’s hallmark features, including vibrant social areas, warm service, and locally inspired design. The new locations will target business and mixed-purpose travelers in urban centers with high commercial activity. The deal strengthens voco hotels’ footprint in Mexico, which currently includes four open and five pipeline properties.

Strategic Growth Through Conversions

The signed properties reflect voco hotels’ positioning as a fast-growing upscale conversion brand. IHG reports that conversions accounted for 57% of its global room openings in the first half of 2025, with voco hotels leading expansion through flexible brand standards and fast onboarding. Globally, the brand has 102 properties in the pipeline.

“As a destination for travelers seeking high-quality, personality-rich stays, Mexico is an ideal fit for the voco hotels brand,” said Paul Adan, SVP of Development for Mexico, Latin America & the Caribbean at IHG. “The signing of six new hotels marks a significant step in the brand’s regional growth and our ability to offer greater choice nationwide.”

Alliance Hotels said the collaboration offers a strategic advantage in competitive markets. “Our collaboration with IHG combines our local expertise with the voco brand’s distinctive style and the benefits of a trusted global platform,” the company stated. The partnership will grant access to IHG’s global distribution engine, technology systems, and the IHG One Rewards loyalty network.
