Kimpton, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle portfolio, opens Kimpton Mirador Pacific Grove on California’s Monterey Peninsula on January 28, 2026, adding a 99-room boutique hotel just 0.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The property blends Spanish Revival architecture with contemporary coastal design and anchors its launch with a new restaurant, The Caledonian.
Located in the walkable town of Pacific Grove near landmarks such as Monarch Grove Sanctuary and Point Pinos Lighthouse, the hotel targets travellers seeking slow-paced, experience-driven stays. Many rooms feature private balconies, select suites include fireplaces, and interiors showcase artwork by regional artists.
Designed by San Francisco-based studio Narrative, the four-storey hotel combines terracotta rooflines, arched openings and hand-plastered walls with modern, light-filled interiors inspired by the surrounding coastline. A central firelit courtyard creates a social heart for evening gatherings, while flexible event spaces accommodate private celebrations and meetings.
Wellness plays a central role in the guest experience. The hotel offers a state-of-the-art fitness studio, in-room yoga mats, wellness kits and complimentary bikes for exploring the coastal paths and neighbourhood streets. Daily programming in partnership with Monterey Bay Moves includes yoga, sound baths and guided fitness sessions.
Guests also have access to Kimpton’s signature rituals, including the morning Kimpton Kickstart coffee service and the evening Kimpton Social hour featuring cocktails, light bites and informal socialising.
A new coastal dining destination
Opening alongside the hotel, The Caledonian positions itself as a modern American restaurant rooted in seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Led by California-native Chef Aaron Rayor, the menu features dishes such as roasted chicken with cranberry beans and salsa verde, whole branzino with saffron velouté and sustainably sourced Scottish salmon.
The restaurant’s bar programme includes craft cocktails, zero-proof options and a curated wine list highlighting California vineyards. Breakfast is served daily from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., with dinner from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., while the bar operates until 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Happy hour runs daily from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Kimpton Mirador Pacific Grove joins the brand’s expanding global portfolio, alongside recent openings in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Riyadh, as demand continues to grow for design-led boutique hotels that blend local culture with modern comfort.
