Etihad Airways boosts U.S. network with more Chicago and Charlotte flights

Etihad Airways is expanding its United States network with significant frequency increases on two key routes, upgrading Chicago O’Hare to double-daily service and Charlotte to daily flights from 15 June 2026.

Both routes operate aboard the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, configured with 32 Business and 271 Economy seats. The changes strengthen one-stop connections between North America and destinations across India and Asia-Pacific via the airline’s Abu Dhabi hub.

Chicago has been one of Etihad’s most established U.S. gateways. The move to double-daily service adds a second daily frequency in each direction, giving travellers a wider choice of departure times and opening up a broader range of onward connections. The route serves as a key link to 11 destinations across India, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai, as well as Asia-Pacific cities such as Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Manila.

“Chicago continues to be a cornerstone of our U.S. network,” said Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways. “Moving to double-daily flights reflects the sustained performance of the route and enables us to offer guests greater flexibility while deepening connectivity through Abu Dhabi, strengthening links to key markets across India and Asia-Pacific.”

Charlotte’s upgrade from four-weekly to daily service is described by the airline as one of the fastest route expansions in its network history. Etihad launched the Charlotte route on 20 March 2026, and the daily schedule runs from 15 June until 8 September. The airline says the acceleration reflects strong demand from both point-to-point and connecting passengers.

De added: “We are grateful to the people of Charlotte for the strong support they have shown since launch. Scaling to daily service so rapidly after launching is a clear signal of how quickly the route is gaining traction and the role it can play in our U.S. network. The increase strengthens links between the Southeast U.S. and our global network, supporting both passenger and cargo flows while enabling efficient access to key markets across India and Asia-Pacific.”

The expanded schedules also improve access to the U.S. domestic network through Etihad’s partner airlines. The airline says the frequency increases form part of a phased approach to growing its North American footprint, with capacity deployed in line with demand.
