No more stopovers: Luxembourg to Abu Dhabi flights start in 2026

Etihad Airways will launch the first nonstop flights between Luxembourg and Abu Dhabi, making history as the first Middle East airline to serve the country.

Services start on 29 October 2026, operating 3 times weekly between Luxembourg Airport (LUX) and Zayed International Airport (AUH), creating the only direct air link between the two cities.

The route uses Etihad’s A321LR aircraft and targets demand from travellers in Luxembourg, the wider Benelux region, France and Germany seeking faster access to the UAE. The airline positions the service as a premium option, featuring a three-class cabin with First Suites, lie-flat Business seats and upgraded Economy, while strengthening business, tourism and cultural ties between Europe and Abu Dhabi.

Flights operate on Etihad’s state-of-the-art A321LR, delivering what the airline calls a “game-changing” narrowbody experience. The aircraft includes First Suites and lie-flat Business seats with direct aisle access, alongside next-generation Economy seats with generous legroom, 4K touchscreen TVs and Bluetooth pairing, supported by high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the cabin.

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways, said Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways: “We are delighted to announce this landmark route, made possible by the launch of the A321LR last year. This incredible aircraft brings our guests a truly premium experience while allowing us to cater to markets which may otherwise be unserved. For the first time, Luxembourg will be directly connected to the Middle East, with Etihad as the only airline offering a nonstop link to Abu Dhabi.”

The airline says the schedule is designed to appeal to both corporate and leisure travellers, linking one of Europe’s financial centres with the UAE’s capital. Neves added, said Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways: “This route is about more than connectivity – it is about building new bridges between Europe and the UAE, unlocking opportunities for business, tourism and cultural exchange. Travellers from Luxembourg can look forward to convenient direct access to Abu Dhabi’s world-class attractions, luxury hotels and authentic Arabian experiences, while benefiting from seamless onward connections across our global network.”

From Abu Dhabi, passengers gain access to Etihad’s wider network across Asia, including Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia and India. Leisure travellers can also explore attractions such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Yas Island’s entertainment district, and new cultural openings including the Zayed National Museum and Natural History Museum.

Inbound travellers from the UAE and beyond can discover Luxembourg’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, fairytale castles and green valleys, blending historic charm with modern European culture. The addition of Luxembourg continues Etihad’s expansion across Europe, positioning the airline to capture growing demand for nonstop travel between secondary European markets and the Middle East.
