New York to Orlando Just Got Easier — and Cheaper

For travelers dreaming of trading snow boots for sandals, there’s now an easier and more affordable way to get there.

JetBlue has announced new year-round nonstop service between Greater Rochester International Airport and Orlando International Airport, expanding its network across Upstate New York with fares starting at just $49 one way.

The new route begins March 26, 2026, and will operate five times weekly, connecting Western New Yorkers directly with Central Florida’s sunshine and theme parks. The service strengthens JetBlue’s growing footprint in the state and deepens its 25-year presence in Rochester, where the carrier has operated since 2000. The airline made the announcement this week, highlighting its long-term commitment to offering more options for leisure travelers and families heading south.

Expanding Upstate connections

According to JetBlue, the Rochester–Orlando route will fly on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Flight 1042 will depart Orlando at 11:50 a.m. and arrive in Rochester at 2:37 p.m., while Flight 1043 will leave Rochester at 3:35 p.m. and land in Orlando at 6:25 p.m. The service is designed to make travel between the two regions more seamless — from upstate winters to Florida warmth in just over two and a half hours.

“JetBlue is proud to grow in Rochester, bringing our low fares and award-winning customer experience to more travelers,” said Dave Jehn, Vice President of Network Planning and Airline Partnerships. “Orlando is one of the most popular destinations for Upstate New Yorkers, and this new route gives customers an easy way to get to the sunshine, theme parks, and all the attractions Central Florida has to offer.”

The airline said the new route further solidifies its position as New York’s “Hometown Airline®.” With this addition, JetBlue now flies from eight airports in the Empire State to Orlando — more than any other carrier. The expansion also underscores JetBlue’s strategy of offering competitive fares on leisure-heavy routes, catering to family and budget-conscious travelers seeking value without sacrificing service.

Community and political support

The announcement was welcomed by regional leaders who see the service as a boost to both convenience and the local economy. “Rochester–Finger Lakes residents should prepare for takeoff because JetBlue is bringing back flights between Orlando and the Greater Rochester International Airport!” said U.S. Senator Charles Schumer of New York. “This new connection to sunny Orlando will help our local economy take off and provide residents with more destinations to warmer climates as winter approaches.”

For the airline, the route also reinforces its commitment to connecting secondary cities with major leisure destinations, a trend increasingly seen among U.S. carriers seeking to diversify beyond traditional hubs. The move follows a broader push by JetBlue to grow in smaller markets where travelers value direct service to vacation hot spots.

To celebrate the launch, JetBlue is offering special introductory one-way fares starting at $49, available exclusively on jetblue.com. The airline’s signature onboard experience includes free high-speed Wi-Fi, known as Fly-Fi®, seatback entertainment with live television, complimentary snacks and beverages, and what it describes as award-winning customer service.

Travel trends and appeal

The new Rochester–Orlando route reflects ongoing demand for leisure travel to Florida, a perennial favorite for families, retirees, and theme park enthusiasts. Orlando continues to rank among the most visited destinations in the United States, with its combination of theme parks, resorts, and expanding cultural offerings drawing millions annually. For Upstate travelers, the addition means fewer connections, lower costs, and less travel time — especially valuable during the winter months when escape from the cold is top of mind.

JetBlue’s announcement also fits within a broader aviation trend of carriers offering more point-to-point routes between mid-size cities and popular vacation destinations. These flights often appeal to travelers who prefer convenience and affordability over connecting through major hubs.

As competition intensifies across the U.S. airline market, routes like this highlight how carriers are targeting specific regional opportunities to capture loyalty among travelers seeking both price and comfort. With its $49 fares and five-day weekly service, JetBlue’s new route gives Upstate New Yorkers another direct path to Florida’s year-round warmth — and one more reason to start planning that next getaway.
