Air France Adds Free High-Speed Wi-Fi to All Cabins

Air France has officially launched free high-speed Wi-Fi on board its aircraft, becoming the first major European airline to offer complimentary internet access across all travel cabins.

The service is now operational on select short- and long-haul aircraft, with plans to expand to 30% of the fleet by the end of 2025 and full fleet coverage by the end of 2026.

Passengers can connect using their Flying Blue frequent flyer account, or create one for free during the flight. The service supports multiple devices and enables real-time news access, streaming, multiplayer gaming, and messaging. The rollout includes regional aircraft for the first time, marking a significant step in Air France’s digital transformation strategy.

Wi-Fi Access Expands Across Fleet

The new high-speed connectivity has already been installed on two Embraer 190s and two Airbus A220s. An Airbus A350 is being equipped this week, introducing the service to the airline’s long-haul network. The offer is available in all cabins, including Economy, Premium Economy, Business, and La Première.

Air France will continue to provide basic internet options on aircraft not yet fitted with high-speed Wi-Fi. Flying Blue members on these flights can access a free “messaging” pass, while other internet uses remain available as a paid option. Flying Blue Ultimate and La Première customers receive full access free of charge on all aircraft.

Powered by Starlink’s Satellite Network

Air France is partnering with Starlink to deliver this connectivity upgrade. Starlink, operated by SpaceX, provides low-latency, high-speed satellite internet through a network of satellites in low-Earth orbit. This ensures stable and secure connections, even during high-altitude travel.

According to the airline, the new system allows for streaming of films, TV shows, and real-time communications without interruption. Devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops can all be used simultaneously on the same connection.

Flying Blue Account Required for Access

To use the new Wi-Fi service, passengers must log in using a Flying Blue account. Those without an account can sign up for free during the flight. La Première passengers continue to access the service directly without registration.

The introduction of free high-speed Wi-Fi is part of Air France’s broader effort to enhance its onboard experience and appeal to both business and leisure travelers. The airline expects to complete installation fleet-wide by the end of 2026.
