Centara opens first Nepal resort near Pokhara with Himalayan views

Centara Hotels & Resorts has announced its debut in Nepal with the opening of Himalayan Hideaway Resort Pokhara, The Centara Collection, marking the Thai hotel group’s first property in the country. The resort is set to welcome guests from January 2026 and will be located on a tranquil hillside in Kaskikot, around 35 minutes from Pokhara. The announcement confirms Centara’s expansion into the Himalayas as part of its broader international growth strategy.

The new property will feature 42 rooms, suites and villas and will form part of The Centara Collection, the group’s portfolio of distinctive, experience-led hotels. Designed to blend modern comfort with local Nepali character, the resort will offer panoramic views of the Fishtail Mountain massif and direct access to the cultural and natural landscapes of the Annapurna region.

A secluded hillside retreat above Pokhara

Himalian Hideaway Resort Pokhara is positioned as a peaceful escape rather than a conventional city hotel. Set above the Pokhara Valley, the resort is surrounded by forested hills and rural villages, offering guests a quieter perspective on one of Nepal’s most visited regions. Its elevated location allows for sweeping Himalayan views while remaining within easy reach of Pokhara’s lakeside area and transport links.

The resort’s 42 accommodations are designed to suit a range of travellers, from couples seeking a retreat to families and small groups. Rooms, suites and villas will feature warm wooden interiors, private gardens or expansive balconies, and layouts intended to connect guests with the surrounding landscape. The emphasis is on space, calm and a sense of immersion in the natural environment.

Facilities at launch will include an all-day dining restaurant, bar and lounge, outdoor swimming pool, library and rooftop terrace. Guests will also have access to a speciality Pan-Asian restaurant and an intimate tea house, alongside meeting venues aimed at small gatherings and retreats. Wellness plays a central role, with yoga sessions and spa rituals offered at Cense by SPA Cenvaree.

Beyond the resort, experiences are designed to highlight both adventure and local culture. Guests will be able to join guided village walks along the Sarangkot Loop Trail, explore the Annapurna Base Camp trekking routes, or take part in paragliding and ultralight flights over the mountains. These activities position the resort as a base for discovery rather than a standalone luxury enclave.

Centara’s expansion into the Himalayas

The opening of Himalayan Hideaway Resort Pokhara marks a significant milestone for Centara Hotels & Resorts, which operates 83 properties across Asia and the Middle East. Its portfolio spans Thailand, the Maldives, Vietnam, Laos, Japan, Oman, Qatar and the UAE, with Nepal now added to the list. The Nepal project reflects Centara’s ambition to enter new destinations while adapting its hospitality model to local contexts.

Prapaijit Thongma, General Manager of Himalayan Hideaway Resort Pokhara, The Centara Collection, said “We are thrilled to bring Centara’s signature Thai-inspired hospitality to Nepal for the first time. With our secluded setting, breathtaking panoramic mountain views, and the deep cultural significance of the Annapurna region, we are ready to welcome travellers from around the world to experience this extraordinary retreat of discovery, wellbeing, and connection.”

To mark the upcoming opening, Centara has launched an introductory promotion titled Spirit of the Himalayas. Available for bookings until 31 March 2026, the offer applies to stays between 1 January and 30 April 2026. It includes a Stay 3 Pay 2 deal, complimentary airport transfers, and additional benefits for CentaraThe1 loyalty members, including 15% savings and triple points.

The launch comes as Nepal continues to attract travellers seeking nature-based experiences, wellness escapes and cultural immersion. Pokhara, long known as a gateway to the Annapurna range, has seen growing interest in boutique and experiential accommodation that moves beyond traditional trekking lodges. Centara’s entry into the market reflects this shift, combining international hospitality standards with a strong sense of place.

As Himalayan Hideaway Resort Pokhara prepares for its January 2026 opening, it adds a new option for travellers looking to experience the Himalayas in a quieter, more contemplative setting. For Centara, the resort represents both a geographical first and a strategic step into one of South Asia’s most evocative travel destinations.
