Super 8 hotels are set to make a major debut in Saudi Arabia, as Wyndham Hotels & Resorts teams up with local developer Le Park Concord to roll out 100 new properties over the next decade. The landmark agreement, backed by the Ministry of Tourism, signals a bold move to expand affordable, quality lodging options across the Kingdom at a time of unprecedented growth in international and domestic travel.
A Strategic Step in a Transforming Market
Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector is evolving fast, and so is the demand for accessible accommodation. Under the country’s ambitious Vision 2030 initiative, the Kingdom is aiming to diversify its economy and position itself as a global tourism powerhouse. In 2024, the country hosted 30 million international visitors—a number expected to soar to 150 million annually by the end of the decade. Yet, economy hotel brands remain underrepresented in the market, with just 6% of the hotel pipeline in the midscale and budget categories.
The introduction of Super 8 by Wyndham aims to close this gap. Known for delivering stylish comfort at affordable rates, Super 8 will be tailored to meet the needs of Saudi Arabia’s growing base of leisure, religious, and business travelers. The first hotel is set to open in 2026, with locations strategically placed along highways and in high-demand urban centers such as Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, and the Dammam/Al Khobar corridor.
Partnering for Growth and Quality
Le Park Concord, a Saudi hospitality company with 13 operational properties and 13 more in development, will lead the charge in rolling out the Super 8 network. By combining Wyndham’s global standards with local insight, the partnership is designed to bring consistent quality and value to a travel segment that has long been underserved in the region.
Mr Fiaz Talal Alenezi, CEO of Le Park Concord, emphasized the importance of bridging the hospitality gap: “Saudi Arabia’s tourism growth under Vision 2030 presents a clear need for more branded economy hotels. Our partnership with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts allows us to address this gap by combining local insight with strong and trusted international standards and the assurance of Wyndham Rewards, one of the world’s most trusted loyalty programs.”
Sustainability Meets Efficiency
One of the standout features of this initiative is its focus on sustainable and efficient construction. Many of the upcoming Super 8 hotels will incorporate smart modular design and eco-conscious materials, offering travelers not just affordability but also responsible, forward-thinking hospitality. This aligns with Saudi Arabia’s wider environmental goals and Wyndham’s commitment to modern, sustainable development.
Dimitris Manikis, President for EMEA at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, highlighted the market potential: “As tourism accelerates and millions of travellers visit the country each year, the demand for dependable, budget-friendly accommodation continues to grow. Our collaboration with Le Park Concord allows us to meet that need by introducing a trusted brand in key cities and along major highways.”
The Bigger Wyndham Picture
Globally, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts operates approximately 9,300 properties in over 95 countries, with Super 8 standing out as one of its most recognized economy brands. The Saudi expansion follows similar moves in Europe, including the recent announcement of 40 Super 8 hotels launching in Spain and Portugal. As part of its global strategy, Wyndham has invested over $350 million USD into technology since 2018, equipping franchisees with next-gen property management systems and access to the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program, which boasts over 115 million members worldwide.
The Saudi deal underscores Wyndham’s broader ambition: to democratize travel by offering consistent, affordable experiences across all corners of the globe. For budget-conscious globetrotters, road trippers, and business travelers alike, the arrival of Super 8 hotels in Saudi Arabia opens a new chapter in Middle Eastern travel—one that values both quality and value in equal measure.
