Valencia Airport has opened a new open-air terrace overlooking the airfield, offering passengers a dedicated outdoor space within the boarding area.
The 326-square-meter facility is freely accessible to all travellers and offers direct views of aircraft take-offs and landings. The initiative aims to enhance the passenger experience by introducing a space for relaxation before flights.
The terrace is designed to take advantage of Valencia’s climate, allowing year-round use while combining open-air seating with a covered section for protection from sun and rain. The space also accommodates smokers, with its layout ensuring natural ventilation in line with current regulations.
Runway views and passenger comfort
The new terrace offers panoramic views across the airport apron, giving passengers a clear vantage point to observe aircraft movements. The addition introduces an element of leisure to the boarding experience, particularly for travellers interested in aviation activity.
Its location within the boarding area ensures easy access for departing passengers, allowing them to step outside without leaving the secure zone. The design reflects a growing trend among airports to incorporate experiential spaces that improve dwell time and passenger satisfaction.
Outdoor space designed for year-round use
The facility includes modern outdoor furniture, with seating and sun loungers that enable travellers to sit or lie down comfortably while waiting for their flight. The combination of open and covered areas allows the terrace to remain functional across different weather conditions.
The project aligns with broader efforts by airports to enhance amenities and differentiate the travel experience. By integrating relaxation areas and observation points, airports are increasingly positioning themselves as destinations in their own right rather than purely transit hubs.
No additional cost is required to access the terrace, and it is open to all passengers within the boarding area. The new space adds to Valencia Airport’s existing infrastructure, offering travellers a new way to spend time before departure.
