ITA Airways’ New Rome–Houston Flight Is Now on Sale

ITA Airways announces that tickets are now on sale for its new nonstop service between Rome Fiumicino and Houston, with the route scheduled to launch on May 17, 2026. The airline confirms that the service will operate three times per week and marks its first direct connection to the Texas city.

The carrier outlines the expansion as part of its broader long-haul growth strategy, adding Houston to a U.S. network that already includes New York, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington and Chicago. According to the airline, the new route will support both business and leisure travel between Italy and the southern United States.

Route Details and Operational Plans

ITA Airways states that flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Rome, with departures at 10:20 and arrivals in Houston at 15:50. Return flights from Houston are scheduled on the same days, departing at 17:50 and arriving in Rome at 12:15 the following day. The service will be operated with Airbus A330neo aircraft configured in three classes.

The airline reports that Houston will become its ninth U.S. destination, reinforcing the United States as its most important long-haul market. ITA Airways notes that the Rome–Houston route will offer connectivity to its European and Mediterranean network, while also facilitating access to Texas and the broader southern region of the United States.

Strategic Expansion in the U.S. Market

ITA Airways highlights the commercial relevance of the new route, citing increased demand for travel between Italy and Texas. The airline emphasizes that Houston, as a major business hub with strong energy, medical, and aerospace sectors, represents an important addition to its network.

The carrier also states that this expansion supports continued development of its Rome Fiumicino hub, where it has consolidated intercontinental, international and domestic operations. With the addition of Houston, ITA Airways indicates that it aims to strengthen its competitive position in long-haul markets while improving connectivity for passengers traveling to and from Italy.

In announcing the new service, the airline reiterates its commitment to route expansion and fleet modernization. ITA Airways reports that its long-haul growth strategy is closely aligned with the introduction of next-generation aircraft and increased transatlantic capacity.

Tickets for the Rome–Houston flights are available through the airline’s website, app and travel agencies. ITA Airways confirms that the service will begin as scheduled on May 17, 2026.
