Singapore Changi experiencing strong growth, handled 17.5 million passengers in Q2 of 2025

Changi Airport is experiencing strong passenger traffic growth in 2025, with Q1 and Q2 showing significant increases compared to the previous year and pre-pandemic levels. In Q2, Changi Airport handled 17.5 million passenger movements, marking a 5.9% year-on-year increase. Aircraft movements, including landings and take-offs, totalled 93,600 for the Q2 – up 4.9% compared to the same period in 2024.

Changi Airport handled 17.2 million passenger movements Q1 of 2025 – 4.3% more than the figure recorded in the same period in 2024.

For 2024, Changi Airport handled 67.7 million passengers, reaching 99.1% of the record 68.3 million handled in 2019.

Top five markets

China was Changi Airport’s biggest market in Q2 of 2025 by passenger traffic, followed by Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia and India. Traffic between Singapore and China registered a 15.8% year-on-year increase, while traffic to and from Indonesia grew 12% in the same period.

Changi Airport’s top five markets for the quarter were China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia and India. Passenger traffic between Singapore and its top source markets, China and Indonesia, witnessed the highest growth during this period, with traffic exceeding 2024 levels by 15.8% and 12% respectively. Consistent with this trend, Jakarta and Shanghai were the fastest growing among Changi’s top 10 cities.

New and reinstated services

Scoot’s inaugural flight to Vienna took off on 3 June. The non-stop service between Singapore and the Austrian capital expands Changi’s reach to Central Europe and strengthens its growing network of European destinations.

Scoot also announced new services to several Southeast Asian cities – including Da Nang, Kota Bharu, Nha Trang, and Labuan Bajo– as well as Okinawa in Japan. These additions further enhance Changi Airport’s regional connectivity, with Kota Bharu and Nha Trang being new city links for the airport.

Following the closure of Jetstar Asia on 31 July, two of four routes previously served exclusively by the airline – Okinawa in Japan and Labuan Bajo in Indonesia – will be operated by Scoot, starting some time between October 2025 and March 2026.

China’s Juneyao Air will take over Jetstar’s services between Singapore and Wuxi in China from 29 Aug. But connectivity to Broome in Australia will remain lost with the closure of Jetstar Asia.

Other updates

As part of efforts to optimise resources across Changi Airport’s terminals, Myanmar National Airlines, Myanmar Airways International, Philippine Airlines and T’Way Air will be operating from Terminal 2 in the coming months, starting July.

As at 1 July, some 100 airlines operate over 7,200 weekly scheduled flights at Changi Airport, connecting Singapore to some 170 cities in 50 countries and territories worldwide.
